Protestant Reformation

The Protestant Movement Begins

Catholic church branched further in 1517 AD when Protestant movement started by Cardinal Martin Luther who was Catholic priest himself due to Catholic church of that time made decisions not consistent with bible.

Martin Luther and the Separation

So Protestant became separate from Catholic church. All Catholics who protested were called protestants.

The Protestant Reformation marked a significant split in Christianity, with reformers seeking to return to biblical principles.

Rise of Protestant Denominations

Within protestants, initially there was Church of England which is still operational. As more time went by other denominations rose such as Methodist, Baptist etc.

So, after 17th century, followers of Jesus were either catholic (roman catholic) or Christians (protestant).

Wars and Reconciliation

Sadly, there were wars fought between Catholics and Protestant in 16th-17th centuries.

But fortunately, now both protestant and Catholics are living in harmony without any wars as they have understood that Jesus Christ's message is to "Love your enemy".
